The Evil Ocryx

INTRODUCTION: 'Nother cheesy poem. This is written on the back of "The Manitou Song," in fact. This piece of paper is very much wrinkled and crumpled. Likely from junior high (1989-91).

The Evil Ocryx

The night is dark on Devil's Lake.
Be quiet, you, for goodness' sake!
Ocryx we do not want to wake,
With the head of a wolf and the tail of a snake.
He's got big wings and he's part rat.
What an evil monster, that.
He resides in these dark waters here,
Striking everyone's hearts with fear.
His cave is underwater near here--
Too near here, in fact, too near.
Go meet him, if you dare.
He'll break your legs and pull out your hair.
In his trap, you it will snare
Thank heavens that this creature is rare!
Wait--what was that sound I just heard?
It sounded like the giant flapping wings of a bird.
No--it was too big to be that.
Now it sounds like the hissing of a cat.
Now the roar of a lion, now the squeak of a mouse.
Here comes a monster as big as a house!
It's that evil demon, Ocryx.
I guess this is how he gets his kicks.
He's getting closer, he's coming, oh, no!
I think he's going to swallow me who--mmfph!
