As I have said before, White Coyote and Black Elk Horn were good friends, and White Coyote was reckless. One day, the two were outside at camp, talking, when the conversation turned to how White Coyote had insulted Ocryx once by throwing stones into Devil's Lake, and of how much trouble they'd gotten into. After a while, they began to argue about White Coyote's recklessness.
"Why are you so foolish sometimes?" Black Elk Horn said. "You're always doing the craziest things." [Note--in the current storyline, it's actually White Coyote who's a bit more levelheaded.]
"Foolish? Crazy?" White Coyote retorted. "You took in a demon as your son. Now that's foolish and crazy if you ask me."
Black Elk Horn was bewildered. "What in the world does X have to do with this?"
"Oh, come now! He's nothing but a demon, pure and simple. He could turn on you or me any day, you know." [Note--even if White Coyote believes this--and I'm not saying he does--he would never speak so to Black Elk Horn as he respects him too much. While I'm at it, this whole thing makes no sense seeing as Black Elk Horn didn't really take X'aaru into his home--X'aaru lived with Old Mother Manitou till he was grown, then came back to visit, I believe.]
Black Elk Horn glared at him, doing his best to control his anger. "You watch your mouth. X is my son."
"He is not your son. Can't you get that? He's Ocryx's and Silver Eagle Feather's son. That means he's not only not your son, he's not legitimate, either. [Note--doesn't seem to be in keeping with more traditional American Indian views.] He's practically a bas--"
"Enough!" Black Elk Horn shouted. "Can't you get it that it doesn't matter if your blood really flows through their veins, just as long as you treat them as if it does and they treat you the same? Of course not--you've never even had any children!" [Note--totally OOC. Except for him losing his temper. That's about it.] And with that he got up and left.
White Coyote shouted after him, "If I ever do have any children, at least they won't be illegitimate!"
After that the two ignored each other. Wherever one was, the other wasn't.
[Note--in addition there is a note scribbled at the bottom:]
[squiggle]
[Story incomplete]
