Osiris (Original Draft) Chapter 4

Chapter 4
Daggers and Dilemma

The next day was uneventful. Set was gone all day, so Bast, Khnum, and Thoth had no worries. They all sat on a rock, boredly discussing about their plans for Set. [Note--"discussing about" seems redundant or something.]

"We have to keep our eyes on him," Bast said, "but how can we if he's gone?"

The falcon from earlier and Anubis came up.

"We don't feel too comfortable with him around either," the falcon, Horus, said. "He carries that dagger everywhere."

"Yeah," Anubis said. "Yesterday, he went to Osiris' chambers."

"Did he go in?" Thoth gasped.

Anubis nodded.

"Did you see your dad today?"

"Of course I did. He's alright [sic]. I whistled as if I was going down the hall, and Set came out saying that he was recovering [sic] him because he threw his blankets off."

Bast shook her head. "That is'nt [sic] like Set." [Note--it's highly likely that I ALWAYS misspelled such contractions utilizing words such as "cannot," "is not," "were not," etc.--but sometimes it's hard to tell, and really looks as if I spelled them one way one time, and the other way another time. I can't explain it...or...I ca'nt explain it...?] She turned towards Horus. "He always carries that dagger?"

Horus nodded.

"He--he was--" Bast stuttered, turning pale.

"--trying to kill him!" Thoth answered. They all clutched at each other when Set came their way.

Set's eyebrows went up. He looked around him. "What in the world is it?"

"You--you--" Thoth said. It was all anyone could get out.

Set looked at them hard. They shivered even harder as if Set could read their thoughts. But no such luck. He shook his head at them pitifully, and walked off again. [Note--that should probably be "pityingly."]

"Did you notice," Bast said, that he did'nt [sic] have his dagger?" [Note--one of my red herring-type things that doesn't go anywhere because I forgot it.]
