The LRU Crew

INTRODUCTION: Humorous listing of some of the students at my fictional college, Little Rock University. (I named it after the Big Rock nuclear power plant, of course mixing up the name on accident. It's not in Arkansas!) Last I knew I had a listing of over four hundred students for this place. It included such important characters as Damien, Chernobyl Cat, Katrina Witchita, Amy, Hosoi, DJ Broderick, Puck Benteen...practically EVERYBODY of the right age in the D4D storyline...and a lot of people who I dropped from the storyline along the way. The unfinished novel True Believers and its sequels were set in this location, and a lot of the D4D writing focuses around it, the most recent example, to my knowledge, being the unfinished The Scorpio Murders (circa 1996).

Inspiration: A long time back I came across a student listing my older brother had on his wall, dating from his college days; next to each student name it had a funny "occupation" or role that they were supposed to serve at the college. (I remember one was something like "Human Punching Bag.") This amused me so much that I did various examples of it using my own characters, of which this is one. Take note of which names are familiar and which ones are completely unknown. Back then, they were obviously all important to me, but by now most have been cut from my writing. You can get a tiny picture of what they're like based on their roles on this list. NOTE: This may not be the entire list, as it ends at G; either a page is missing, or it was never completed. If I find a missing part at a later date, I will post it here. Date uncertain, but probably from high school (1991-95).

The LRU Crew

Daphie Alsbrooks, snoopy reporter
Amy, boy-crazy maniac [Note--the only character of Mya's that I ever fully adopted as my own.]
Arin & Erin, sweethearts [Note--Mya's characters.]
Zippo Barington, disc jockey [Note--first name probably taken from a local DJ whose program was called "Zippo In The Morning!"]
Damon Barrymore, UFO buff
Beelzebub, professional playboy [Note--because, in a series of improvised audio recordings Mya and I did, he seemed to have a hundred girlfriends all named Candy--the "bimbo" seen further down this list.]
Phemie Bianca, shiny happy person
Denise Black Hawk, American Indian (and proud of it)
Laurana Bluegrass, snob
Booth Bowen, skirt-chasing pest [Note--I think, but am not sure, that Booth (no relation to Chief Bowen of Minot!) was one of my very few non-feline/non-canine characters--I believe he was a blackbird of some kind.]
Briggs Bradbury, Byron Hughes, & Baxter Goodman, big game hunters [Note--because Briggs, Byron, and Baxter just sound like big-game hunter names.]
D. J. Broderick, babe on campus
Ponchitta, Sherita, & Tawana Brushaber, the Brushaber Triplets
Babs Burns, aspiring talk show hostess
Candy, bimbo
Edmond Carnarvon & Fredestaire Carter, archaeologists
Chernobyl Cat, nutbag [Note--er, no sexual reference intended!]
Krakatoa Cat, stupid guy from India [Note--and no offense to Indians! He just happened to have been raised in India, and happened to be rather naive. Technically, as Chernobyl's brother, he wasn't really Indian.]
Tunguska Catski, Russian Shriner
Monty Conklin, Australian bloke
Princess Tiara Conners, "princess" in residence
Psyche Cooper, person with PK [Note--psychokinesis.]
Idella Cottle, hairdresser
Levie Cox, Doomsday guy [Note--my first attempt at a schizophrenic character. Needless to say, pretty stereotyped.]
Giselle Cramer, downright depressing person [Note--in the unfinished...cripes, I can't remember the title! It had "Boston" in it--something like An Adventure In Boston or Once Upon A Time In Boston--I seem to recall a few paragraphs were written long ago. In any case, in that story, Giselle's reason for being depressing was made pretty clear.]
Pigeon Creskins, bird lover
Damien, rock 'n' roll detective (no friend of Dice) [Note--did I mean Andrew Dice Clay? I have no clue.]
Ooty Dillinger, person with a gangster name
Semi Dirks, big scary person
Dibbs Dobermann, achtung baby [Note--NO relation to Inspector Dobermann of the Trench Rats storyline!]
Don & Ron, divorced guys [Note--Mya's characters.]
Dennys Edgett, mooch [Note--loosely based on the Dennis character from Head Of The Class, I believe.]
Anthoney Edison, hummer [Note--Mya's character. He hummed a lot. That was it.]
Percival Erdman, "The Nerdman"
Griffin Erkstine, Frankenstein follower
Van Ness Etts, witty Scot
Buster Fauley, living doorstop
Brooke Feldman, person who has a Jewish name but is not a Jew!!! [Note--no anti-Semitism intended; stressed only because I gave her a Jewish name before knowing it was a Jewish name, when the character I had created was not meant to be Jewish. I did have a pair of Jewish characters named Jem (Jeremy) and...eh, can't remember, but the last name was Cohen--but I don't focus on this much as I don't know much about Judaism. Witness the D4D character Christopher Felman. With a name like that I haven't ANY idea what he is.]
Fifina, conceited lady
Wink Finkleman, game show host
Thya Fionis, headache lady [Note--because she would always say, in this eastern European accent, "Shut up, you give me headache!"]
Spangler Fitzgerald, woman's lib scientist
Fluffy, exercise-till-you-drop fan [Note--yes, the same Fluffy from the King Kuts stories. Whereas twin brother Shaggy was fat and lazy and ate a lot, Fluffy was always exercising and dieting.]
Buzz Folensbee, male chauvinist pig
Aristotle Fristrom, Socrates Powers, & Plato Teasdale, aspiring philosophers (not)
Gandhi, Hare Krishna in the lobby [Note--that is actually what he was--a Hare Krishna, hanging out in the lobby. Gandhi, of course, was just his nickname. He would greet people with something like, "May the best of amiable salutations be yours!" or some such.]
Polywog Gavinno, screwer-upper
Sam Gibson, effects of PMS spokeswoman [Note--because she was bitchy, of course! *rimshot*]

[List incomplete?]
