The Adventures Of A Time Traveler (#1)

INTRODUCTION: Apparently some sort of class assignment. The teacher noted, "I like your side footnotes." Dated 2/19/91, which I believe would make it junior high.

The Adventures of a Time Traveler (#1)

1991 is a relatively boring year, so last week I decided to journey to my favorite time and place--ancient Egypt. I just happened to have a time machine handy, so I got in and set the time and place (I set it to the reign of Thutmose III), and the time machine began to revolve. Soon we were gone (We--the time machine included).

[Side sketch: "rough drawing of the time machine (details may differ)"]

We landed not too far away from the Sphinx. I got out and began to hop because of the hot sand. At that moment, Pharaoh Thutmose III himself came riding up in his war chariot and said, "Ho! It is the great goddess Mut in human form. She has come to help me fight off the enemies. Spread your wings, oh goddess, and fly!"

[Sidenote: "Mut (Moot)--the wife of Amon, king of the Egyptian gods. Usually depicted as a vulture."]

Naturally I just stood there, staring back at him.

"I said, 'Spread your wings, and fly!'" Thutmose shouted again.

I stood there, doing nothing save stare back.

Thutmose III pulled out an arrow and exclaimed, "If you do not fly within three seconds, then you aren't the goddess Mut, and I'll shoot you!"

At this, I rushed back into the time machine and we rose into the air. Before we disappeared, though, I could hear Pharaoh Thutmose III of Egypt exclaim, "By Amon! She does fly--but looks nothing like a vulture!"
