2 Eavesdroppers
Sobek, Hathor, and Sakhmet were whispering amongst themselves when Isis came along. Since they did'nt [sic] notice her, she listened in:
"He sharpened that dagger of his again," Sobek said.
"I know. It's like the child he never had," Sakhmet said.
"Or wanted," Hathor grumbled.
They all nodded.
"That and that amemit are all he likes," Sobek continued. "He hates Osiris."
"What makes you say that?" Hathor asked.
Sobek peered over his shoulder and motioned them to huddle together. Now Isis could'nt [sic] be seen, therefore she leaned over and listened:
"I heard him telling some plans to HAL," he said. "He said, 'When they have dinner, and when they're gone, I'll ask to see Osiris. Then I'll--'"
"He'll what?" Hathor and Sakhmet said together, breathlessly.
"That's it. He caught me in the act of listening, and I had to leave."
"Speaking of listening--" Hathor said, and they all looked up.
Isis shook her head. "No faith, no faith," she said. "We should'nt [sic] have appointed you a gaurd [sic], Sobek. Now you don't trust anybody."
"I do too," Sobek snapped, forgetting that he was talking back to the queen. "I know what I heard. I don't lie."
Sakhmet nodded. Hathor snorted.
"You'll find out you're wrong, in time," Isis said. "I used to not trust Set, either. But now I know that he isn't too bad. He may be strange, and a little bit on the dark side, if you know what I mean, but that does'nt [sic] mean that--"
A shout came down the hall.
"Everybody!" it said, "It's dinner time!"
