Ocryx, Bringer Of Demons
INTRODUCTION: The full existing text of Ocryx, Bringer Of Demons. This followed A Nightmare On Manitou Island in the purple five-subject notebook and was meant to be part of a "trilogy" about the Island. I remember that I got the idea for this story (maybe along with Mya?) during a visit to Old Mill Creek; we ran around the pond or whatever it is, and pretended that it was Devil's Lake, where the titular Ocryx is supposed to reside. I intended to start an eerie story featuring some of my characters hanging out at this "lake" and they would be frightened by Ocryx, of course. Nothing overly serious or terrifying, just pretty much a ghost story, only with a demon. I seem to recall it being a sort of "modern-day folks versus an ancient demon"-type plot. This story has a nice cover illustration which was obviously done later than the drawing for Nightmare as my drawing style had changed so much. It's done in black felt-tip pen, I believe; there's the title, with the devil horns on the O in "Ocryx"; "Demon" is written in a kind of fuzzy way, maybe meant to imitate shivering or fear. It's a landscape of part of Devil's Lake; the moon is shining from behind a cloud, and it and a pine tree are reflected in the lake. Ocryx stands, in silhouette, off to the right--only his eyes are lit up--and he's a pretty good approximation despite how much time has passed since then. I feel kind of silly including this here...because this has got to be the SHORTEST unfinished story I have! I guess I was just all ideas, no action, like always. Date uncertain but likely around 1990-91.
