A Talk
"Father Damien!"
Damien laughed and shook his head, turning a corner.
"I can't believe it! I just can't!" He turned to his uncle, sitting beside him. "It's a good thing you're a priest, because this is a miracle! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me!"
"Me, too," his uncle replied. "I didn't even think you'd recognize me. That's why I sent you the D."
Damien continued shaking his head. "This is just so unbelievable. It all happened so fast it's like some kind of weird dream. I just hope I don't ever wake up, and find out it isn't real..."
"Damien, this is all real," Father Damien said, putting his hand on Damien's shoulder. "You won't wake up, and I really am here. Just to prove it, you keep the silver D. It's yours."
Damien looked at him again. "Oh no, I can't take that--"
Father Damien shook his head.
Damien paused, then smiled slightly and took the D. "I'm always going to wear it. But the only proof I need is you. It's great to have you back, Uncle."
Father Damien smiled. "It's great to have you back too, Damien."
