Exploring the Tower
From their lookout on top of the White Tower, the gang huddled around Damien as he unfolded a big map. He pointed to his right.
"That's the Wakefield Tower," he informed them, and pointed ahead of it.
"That's the Lanthorn Tower." And then, "That's the Salt Tower, way over there is the Martin Tower, and there," pointing to his far left, "the Chapel of Saint Peter ad Vincula."
"Dracula?" Pips shivered.
Damien shook his head. "Vincula. There's the old chopping block, the Beauchamp Tower, the Tower Green, the Bell Tower, that bit over there is the main entrance, remember? And Saint Thomas's Tower, and last but not least the Bloody Tower. Over there is Raleigh's Walk, and way over near the Martin Tower is Northumberland's Walk. I have a whole bunch of mini maps, so help yourselves. Go wherever you want. We'll meet out on the Tower Green for lunch, and then split up again. At six o'clock be sure to come back here to the White Tower, where we'll talk over our travel plans for tomorrow and have a dance. The dance will be held exactly at seven thirty, and be sure to dress up in some kind of fancy costume, like maybe Lady Jane Grey or Henry VIII or something. Be there or be square!" He waved and everyone went off to explore the Tower grounds.
"I think I'll check out this Bloody Tower, dudes," Boomer said to Hosoi and Chernobyl. "Anybody comin'?"
"Not me," Choby said. "I saw that last night. I'll just go relax on the Green."
"Count me out too, dude," Hosoi replied. "I'm visiting the Martin Tower. See ya later."
"Suit yourself," Boomer shrugged, looking at the map and leaving.
Kat and three of her friends, Amy, Belinda, and Phemie, entered the Chapel of Saint Peter ad Vincula.
"Wow, what a big place," Amy sighed. "And what a big mirror!" She went over to it and looked in. Kat and Belinda left the room, and Phemie moseyed around.
Amy patted her hair and straightened her ponytail, then looked at her face. She could clearly see Phemie in the background, picking up a candlebra [sic]. But then another form came into view. It appeared to be a woman--it appeared to be coming out of the mirror--and it appeared to be headless!"
Amy screamed so loud that she nearly broke the mirror. Phemie jumped.
The woman was holding her head in her hand and moaning. Amy ran to the door and began pounding on it, "Let me out! Let me out NOWWW!!!" The door opened and she fell out, and ran out screaming. She streamed past Chernobyl, who jumped up.
"Where's the fire?" he shouted, falling over the chopping block.
"Aaaaaaaaaaahhh!" Amy screamed.
"What the heck's going on?" Damien called, running around the stone corner of the White Tower. He was dressed up like a beefeater and looked surprised.
Belinda came out now, stuttering, "Anne Anne Anne Anne, Anne Anne Anne!"
"Who's Anne?" Damien asked, bewildered.
"A-A-Anne B-B-B-B-Boleyn!" Belinda gasped. "She--she was beheaded and-a-and her g-g-ghost is s-said to haunt the T-Tower!"
"Oh, give me a break!" Damien said, slapping his head. "Don't tell me you really believe in those dumb old legends!"
"B-b-but I don't!" Belinda stuttered, trying to calm down. "I read it i-in a book once. She was one of Henry VIII's wives. He had her beheaded and they say her ghost still walks the Tower. She was b-b-buried right here, in the Chapel of Saint Peter ad Vincula!"
Damien shook his head and leaned on his battleaxe. "Sometimes I think you people are absolutely nuts. Insane, I should say."
"Dami, I read that this is the world's most haunted historic site," Chernobyl put in.
"You, of all people, have to be the craziest!" Damien snorted, stomping away. He swung the axe over his shoulder, mumbling to himself.
"Well, excuuuuse me!" Amy huffed.
"I'll go talk to him," Choby sighed.
Damien sat down before the entrance to the Martin Tower, still bumbling. Choby walked by.
"Hi. Sorry I yelled," Damien called.
Choby smiled, nodded and walked on.
Damien leaned back to relax when Choby came by. "Hi, Dami," he said.
"Hi. Sorry I ye--" Damien sat up with a jolt. "Hey, wait a minute! You went by just a minute ago!"
Choby looked confused. "No, I didn't. I haven't even come to the Martin Tower yet."
"But you just...I absolutely swear you..."
"Oh Damien, you don't swear," Choby joked.
Damien glared at him, then retorted, "There must be some tracks. Help me look."
The two searched around the grass and sand, but there were no tracks to be found.
"I'm getting really confused," Damien sighed. "You came by I know you did!"
"Oh, never mind," Choby said. "I'll see you later."
