Blood Secrets Front

INTRODUCTION: The complete existing text of the D Is For Damien novel Blood Secrets. This was twenty-first in the series, but was also part of the Minot spinoff series (it would be third in that series, following Minot and Four P). Again, I didn't get very far at all with this, but it was meant to be an important novel in the storyline, as it would reintroduce Detective Max Kristeva in a leading role this time, and would pair him up with new character Detective Chance Devetko--my first gay character!! *cough* Sorry, but that was a big thing for me at the time.

The actual PLOT of the novel is very, very hazy, and by now it probably would not work well enough as a standalone novel. My problem with all the spinoff series novels is that they start to sound alike after a while. All I really know of it (and all the timeline says) is that this is where Kristeva would finally begin to unravel, and his own place in all of the strange Minot occurrences would finally start to be revealed. Remember how he acted in Four P? There was a good reason why, when Detective Mulroy touched him, he nearly bit his head off. Unfortunately, I never got that far in this novel--and that much wasn't meant to be revealed anyway. The prologue is another pretty good hint though, and if you're curious you can check out the completed short story "A Crack Of Light" for the details. The unnamed sheriff from Four P also at last received his name here (he has his own past with Kristeva, which isn't revealed in the novel), and moderately important character Russell Whittaker was to be introduced.

This story was supposed to take place in 1999; it's from the same file as The Ties That Bind (second draft), Four P, The Scorpio Murders, Flashback, and Sidekicks (second draft), last modified 2001, but likely predates that, although not by much. I would place it around 1999-2000.
