Autumn Blue

Autumn Blue

Geese float frozen in azure skies,
Trapped high in autumn blue;
The fall colors caught in their eyes
Contrast the lapis hue;
With each swift stroke their bodies rise
On trails they last year flew;
The air fills with their honking cries--
Echoes in autumn blue.

Strong wings pummel the currents cold,
The cool sharp autumn blue;
The land below the geese behold
From their clear lofty view;
The tops of trees trimmed red and gold,
The crisp wind whistles through;
The geese fly on their pathways old--
Their paths of autumn blue.
